PRIVACY NOTICE

Access Training Centre takes its obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 (Commonwealth) very seriously and as such will take all necessary steps to comply with the Act and thus protect all personal information collected and held on behalf of our clients. Confidentiality of client information and records is paramount to the successful operations of ATC. 

ATC collects personal information, in order to comply with our legal obligations. As a registered training organisation (RTO) we collect personal information so we can process and manage learner enrolments in a vocational education and training (VET) course with ATC. Failure to provide necessary information may result in ATC not able to issue Statement of Attainment for the relevant unit of competencies.

How we use your personal information

We use your personal information to enable us to deliver VET courses to you, and otherwise, as needed, to comply with our obligations as an RTO.

How we disclose your personal information

We are required by law (under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth) (NVETR Act)) to disclose the personal information we collect about you to the National VET Data Collection kept by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research Ltd (NCVER). The NCVER is responsible for collecting, managing, analysing and communicating research and statistics about the Australian VET sector.

We are also required to disclose your personal information to the relevant state or territory training authorities for reporting requirements, as ATC issues nationally recognised certification documents, where learner results are collected and recorded on National and state-based databases;

ATC is also required to disclose personal information for audit purposes by the National VET Regulator, ASQA; and any other Regulators including but not limited to:
• Austroads as the regulator for National Temporary Traffic Management programs
• Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT); and
• SafeWork SA as the regulator for High-Risk Licensing programs

How the NCVER and other bodies handle your personal information

The NCVER will collect, hold, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the law, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Privacy Act) and the NVETR Act. Your personal information may be used and disclosed by NCVER for purposes that include populating authenticated VET USI transcripts; administration of VET; facilitation of statistics and research relating to education, including surveys and data linkage; and understanding the VET market.

If you are a VET student, you r personal information may be used:

  • To produce statistics and research relating to education.  This may involve combining your information with other sources of data to help policy makers and researchers gain a better understanding VET sector dynamics and performance, support critical policy and other decision making, and shed light on evolving VET sector priorities. This is known as data integration
  • To understand how the VET market operates
  • To invite you to participate in a survey.

Surveys

You may receive a student survey which may be run by a government department or an NCVER employee, agent, third-party contractor or another authorised agency. Please note you may opt out of the survey at the time of being contacted.
